At Higher Bowden we pride ourselves on our facilities for families with young children. All of our cottages are suitable for babies and toddlers and have individually made stairgates. We can provide cots (wooden or travel), high chairs and booster seats. Extras such as plug protectors are also available on request. To make life easier for mum and dad, washer/driers are present in all cottages, along with dishwashers, DVD players and a range of digital TV channels.

Many of the cottages have a secure terrace or garden. Rose Cottage, for example, is notable for its lovely enclosed lawned garden, whilst the terrace outside Buttercup Cottage is ideal for small people with tricycles or push along toys.

In the grounds there are two children's playgrounds with swings, slides etc and a very popular large round trampoline. Pre-schoolers rejoice in discovering our playroom and will spend happy hours there when they are not busy learning to swim in our heated indoor pool. The gentle steps into the pool make it easier for little ones to enter, and the non-slip tiles in the surrounding area are an added bonus. There is a playpen in the ladies' changing room as well as on the balcony in the pool area.

We are lucky to have a range of outings suitable for young families in the local area. Favorites include steam train trips (for Thomas fans), boat trips on the river Dart, Pennywell Farm with its collection of friendly farm animals and children's activities, Woodlands Leisure Park, Paignton Zoo and Prickly Ball Hedgehog Hospital. Come at the right time of year and pick your own fruit at Stokenham farm shop, and of course there are always the traditional pursuits of picnicking, playing on beaches and in rock pools, and experiencing the countryside year round.

We do get a lot of return bookings from families with young children and are always interested to hear of ways to further improve our facilities in this area.
