Visitors to Dartmouth holiday cottages can look forward to a fantastic show in the form of Aladdin and his Magical Lamp.
Starting on January 21 and showing through until January 25, the Totnes Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society (TAODS) are gearing up for this exciting Pantomime to kick off 2014. Their take on the original story of Aladdin and the Genie; Aladdin and his Magical Lamp, is a modern day pantomime for the whole family to enjoy. TAODS are a well-established production company and have been producing shows since 1942.
The story portrays a traditional fun filled pantomime, set in China’s old Peking. The story focuses on the poor Widow Twankey, her son Aladdin and their adventures.
Aladdin is besotted with the Emperors daughter Balraubadour, his quest for wealth is thwarted by the arrival of his arch enemy and villain Abanazer who is the wicked magician. Offsetting this are the comical larks of Wishee Washee, his girlfriend Sing-Lo and the hapless Chinese policemen Charlie Chan along with his number one son Chin Chin.
The performance will be taking to the stage from 7.30pm nightly with a Saturday Matinee showing at 2.30pm.
You are sure to be in for a fantastic and simply magical modern day pantomime performance. Great for all the family!
