The Beautiful Historic Port of Dartmouth

Dartmouth South Devon

Welcome to Dartmouth in Devon - the Jewel of the South Hams. Ancient narrow streets house boutique shops, art galleries & delicatessens. A cobbled market place features colourful stalls and Farmers markets supplying fresh local produce - used by our gourmet restaurants, & cafes and home to the Britannia Royal Naval College.

Sail, fish, explore by boat or come at festival time. Take the steam train ride to Paignton for a treat or enjoy visits to Dartmouth Castle, National Trust properties at Greenway and Coleton Fishacre. Walk the South West Coast Path or laze on our clean beaches. Don't forget to visit the tourist office to see a working Newcomen Engine!

The nearest pubs, restaurants, church, Post Offices, grocery stores and newsagents are only 1.5 miles away in the local villages of Strete and Stoke Fleming. The nearest town is Dartmouth (four miles), a wonderfully scenic place boasting the Royal Naval College and other sites of historic interest. There are churches of various denominations, a small hospital with a casualty department, and many interesting shops. The number of quality restaurants and other eateries in Dartmouth is quite remarkable. It also boasts four supermarkets (including Sainsbury, Lidl, M & S Food) and enough delicatessens, greengrocers, butchers, healthfood stores, market stalls, bakeries and take-aways to provide all of your food requirements. Or you can travel a few miles further to Totnes, another historic town now rich with 'alternative' New Age culture, and stock up in the Morrisons supermarket there.
